by Not much was known about Athelard, when he came to Khorinis, except that he was a carpenter in Myrtana. He was a refugee fleeing the war, a face amongst many similar ones. As he was a stranger, no one wanted to hire him, so he joined to town militia, willing to do some good and in order to have what to eat and where to sleep. He spent a few months not doing anything notable, until he was assigned as squire to Giuggio, who was then the Commander of the Armies. He served him well, and even became his friend. Soon enough, Athelard rose up in the ranks to become Lieutenant. Giuggio himself insisted that he should be appointed as responsible of the lower town's security, claiming that no man has the same experience as Athelard for that. When the Inquisition came, Athelard was one of the rebels, and fought besides Giuggio. He had his own squad of men that ambushed many an inquisition patrol. He was one of the few survivors of the massacre at Onar's farm. He hid in the woods for weeks until the Inquisition was no more in Khorinis. As a reward for his services, King Dommel knighted him, and took him along in his expedition to slay Salvador. There he proved unwavering loyalty to his new liege by refusing Thorusus's proposal. He was later on promoted to Paladin Commander for his loyalty and services to the crown. He now accompanies King Dommel as well as a large detachement of knights in a mysterious expedition.
