Ranks within the Inquisition Empty Ranks tasks

Post by Thorusus Thu Nov 05, 2015 1:08 pm

    Ranks - tasks:

Inquisitors: They are the most highly placed people among the Inquisition, their role is to make sure that people are safe from evil. They wield a great magical power and are capable warriors. Each member of the Inquisition follows their orders. They're the ones that can be entrusted the complete leadership of a camp, a castle or even a town.

    Military ranks:

Captains: The rank of Captain is only given to the most valorous warriors of the Inquisition. They are both strong fighters and intelligent strategists. They usually command a garrison in a castle or a town. They assign troop positions, patrols, grant the military ranks and follow only the orders of the Inquisitors. A Captain can also be assigned to a monastery where he will command the adepts and assure the security.

Lieutenants: Lieutenants are only called upon for important tasks. Most of the time they are given a camp to watch over or a district in a town. They can assign patrols to Soldiers and Sergeants and answer to Captains and Inquisitors. A few Lieutenants are sometimes assigned to a monastery in order to teach the Adepts how to fight.

Sergeants: Not many of the Soldiers actually make it to the rank of a Sergeant. These men have proven that they are good fighters and that they can lead a small troop with success. They usually lead a scouting or patrolling party, control who gets in or out of an area (town, castle etc...) and any other responsibility that consists them having between 2 to 6 men under their command.

Soldiers: Soldiers are the pillars of the Inquisition, they mostly are assigned to patrols, guard duty, train in the barracks etc... Most of the time they are under the command of a Sergeant who gives them their assignments.

    ------------------------------------

    Monastery ranks:

Mages: Magicians are the highest ranked in the monastery hierarchy. They have mastered the art of magic and are able to use runes to the 3rd circle of magic. They give assignments to Adepts and Novices, and they're allowed to study in the lower library.

Adepts: Their role is both to defend the monastery and to serve the Mages. They're "Mages-in-training". They have learned the 1st circle of magic and can fight with a melee weapon if need be. They're also allowed to study in the upper library and the cellars. Their assignments are given by the Mages and a Captain if he's present. They are taught to fight by Lieutenants. In order to become a Mage, the Adept must be given a test by both two Mages, the Captain and an Inquisitor.

Novices: A Novice's role is to serve. They receive their assignments from Mages. Most of the time they sweep the floor, take care of the garden, cook, make the Mages' beds... and when they have some time, they study. When a Mage decides that a Novice has served the community well, he can give him permission to study the first circle of magic in the upper library, then, the Novice can also learn fighting with a Lieutenant. In order to become an Adept, the Novice must pass a test given by a Mage.

    ------------------------------------

Acolytes: The Acolytes are the new members of the Inquisition. They are to stay in a town with a "trainer" that is either a Sergeant, a Lieutenant, an Adept or a Mage. He will learn more about the Inquisition and serve it. When the time comes, he will be given a choice : The path of the Warrior or the path of the Mage. Depending on what he chooses, he will be assigned to a town, a castle, a camp as a Soldier, or to a monastery as a Novice.
